It became the most produced plane at the factory with almost 34,000 units made and one of the first truly modern plane of its time due to its fully metallic monocoque, closed cockpit and retractable landing gear. A curious historical fact, the Messerschmitt participated in the Spanish Civil War to test its elements and characteristics, but naturally it was during the second world war when it was a fundamental part of the German forces.
