The Carolina Giant Half Log, Reptile Habitat Accessory is one of those practical items that we use quite often; especially with adult bearded dragons. We use them as a habitat “perch” for the dragons to climb on top of for some time closer to their UVB. We also find the dragons appreciate crawling under the Half Log for some privacy or even in the late fall for brumation. The Half Log takes a little more effort to clean, but you can’t beat the natural look and the “real” texture. It measures about 11”L x 9.5”W x 5”H. The Carolina Giant Half Log may be cleaned with soapy water, followed up with some chlorhexidine. You should probably avoid excessively soaking the log since it is made from real wood. Similar products made of resin don’t have the same tactile feel to your reptile’s claws. There are also reports of them degrading / crumbling with prolonged exposure to water or partial submersion. We expect the real wood Giant Half Log to hold up better in these conditions.
