A knight in elaborate armor stands guard over the freedom and unity of Europe on the obverse of the silver Knights of Past coin. Behind him stands the watchtower of Valetta, as well as Fort Saint Angelo in Birgu, which was the Order's headquarters during the Great Siege of Malta. On the flip side, a Maltese knight holds a shield bearing the Central Bank of Malta's coat of arms. The maximum worldwide mintage of this coin is fifteen thousand.
